How to Determine If You Have a JHBP Roofing Product Installed on Your Home.

 

JHBP manufactured its roofing products from color blended fiber cement to produce a roofing product with a uniform ¼" thickness.

JHBP utilized only three patterns; Hardishake, Hardislate, and a limited production of Hardishingle.


IDENTIFYING MARKS

JHBP utilized no marks or stamps on the edge or back of its products. JHBP relied on the product thickness, unique patterns, and uniform color blending to identify its products.

 

PRODUCTION DATES

JHBP roofing products were manufactured and installed primarily as a replacement roofing product from 1989 through Summer of 2001.

Hardishake   1989 to 2001
Hardislate   1994 to 2001
Hardishingle   1998 to 1999

 

RANGE OF DISTRIBUTION

Hardishake  

The majority of the product was sold in Washington/Oregon, Hawaii, Texas and California.

Other areas where the product was marketed include Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Distribution was discontinued in the Pacific Northwest sometime during 1995.

 

Hardislate  

The majority of the product was sold in Washington/Oregon, Hawaii, Texas and California.

Other areas where the product was marketed include Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Distribution was discontinued in the Pacific Northwest sometime during 1995.

 

Hardishingle Distribution was limited to California and Texas only from April 1, 1998 to September 1999.

 

To determine if you have any of these products on your home,

  1. ask the builder of your property or the roofer that installed your roof;
  2. check your records for the sales receipts for the roofing product you purchased;
  3. measure the product thickness and if it is ¼" thick, has uniform color blending throughout the shake and matches the specifications of any of these products, then you may submit a sample to the Claims Administrator for final verification.

Hardishake

    Designed to imitate the natural look of cedar wood shakes.

    Manufactured until 1998 in a 22" length with three widths – 12", 8" & 6".

    Manufactured after 1998 in a 18" length with three widths – 12", 8" & 6".

    Thickness of the shakes is ¼".

    Manufactured from 1989 to 2001.

    Distributed primarily in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

    Distribution in Oregon and Washington was discontinued sometime during 1995.

    Color is blended through the entire shake.

    Manufactured in seven colors:
    Earth Brown, Deep Brown, Dark Cedar, New Cedar, Weathered Cedar, Pewter Gray and Dark Gray.

Hardislate

    Designed to duplicate the texture and dimensions of natural slate.

    Manufactured in an 18" length with one width – 8".

    Thickness of the slates is ¼".

    Manufactured from 1994 to 2001

    Distributed primarily in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

    Distribution in Oregon and Washington was discontinued sometime during 1995.

    Color is blended through the entire slate.

    Manufactured in four colors:
    Olive Green, Pewter (Light) Gray, Terra Brown, and Flint Gray.

Hardishingle

    Designed to imitate the look of cedar shingles

    Manufactured in a 18" length with three widths – 12", 8" and 6"

    Thickness of the shingles is ¼".

    Manufactured from April 1, 1998 to September 1999.

    Distributed in California and Texas only.

    Color is blended through the entire shake.

    Manufactured in three colors:
    Pewter Gray, Sierra Brown and Flint Gray.
